Company Overview: This rapidly expanding biotech firm offering innovative technologies is looking for their next Business Development Manager to join their team. This role is an excellent opportunity for scientists to sit at the crossroads between R&D and the commercial part of the business. The ideal candidate will possess a solid background in immuno-oncology, pharmacology, and/or animal model gene engineering and will be tasked with identifying and nurturing strategic and new business ventures for the company.
Key Responsibilities:
- Identify and establish external partnerships for licensing, co-development, and other structured business transactions.
- Lead the creation and presentation of business cases for key external opportunities, providing management with thorough analyses, assumptions, risks, and input from both internal and external sources as needed.
- Independently initiate and present external business opportunities.
- Manage cross-functional due diligence processes and alliance management, collaborating with departments such as R&D, CMC, Clinical, Regulatory, Operations, and Finance, and serve as the main business development contact when necessary.
- Oversee business development operations including proposal drafting, term sheet development, negotiations, deal closure, and alliance management.
- Contribute to the development and revision of the business development and licensing strategy in alignment with the company's broader corporate and portfolio strategies.
- Represent company at industry events, investor meetings, and partnering conferences, and build and maintain relationships with various stakeholders in the pharmaceutical and biotechnology sectors.
Qualifications:
- A Master's degree in science, MBA, MD, or Ph.D. in pharmacology, immunology, cancer biology, or a related biomedical field is strongly preferred.
- At least 2 years of experience in business development, R&D, or strategic planning within the life sciences sector.
- Comprehensive knowledge of business development, licensing, and pharmaceutical R&D.
- Strong strategic thinking, analytic skills, and proven experience.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, adaptable for different audiences.
- Effective interpersonal and project management skills, especially in a fast-paced and dynamic matrix environment.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
- Proficiency in both Mandarin and English is required.
