A leading CRO in the Life Sciences sector, our client is looking for a skilled and dynamic Business Development Manager to join their team in the United Kingdom. They are a fast-growing and specialised CRO that caters to pharma and biotech customers and is recognised as a leader in the field. Their team of scientists delivers laboratory services in genomics, transcriptomics and proteomics using various molecular analysis technologies such as qPCR, digital PCR, and NGS. They also provide services in method development, assay validation and sample analysis. Their laboratory is GLP-ready and ISO 17025:2017 accredited, and can conduct both regulatory and research-grade assays.
The Role:
You will be a key player in growing our presence in the pharma and biotech industry as a Business Development Manager with our client. Your role will involve finding new clients, building solid partnerships, and boosting sales through strategic selling. You will need your scientific knowledge and sales skills to market our services, close deals, and support our ongoing success.
Key Responsibilities:
- Research and identify potential clients in the pharma and biotech industry, and understand their needs and challenges.
- Establish and maintain long-term partnerships with high-level contacts in drug development, using a scientific approach to provide solutions.
- Generate and follow up on new business leads through various sources, such as networking, referrals, online platforms, and industry events.
- Analyse the market and the competition to find opportunities for growth and differentiation.
- Work with the internal team, including project managers and senior management, to create and present attractive service offerings and proposals to potential clients.
- Negotiate and close contracts and pricing agreements with clients, ensuring mutual benefits and profitability.
- Monitor and evaluate market trends, competitor activities, and customer feedback to identify areas for improvement and strategic initiatives.
- Represent the company and build professional relationships at industry conferences, trade shows, and events.
- Keep track of business development activities, customer interactions, and sales pipeline using CRM software Salesforce.
Key Requirements:
- A degree or equivalent qualification relevant to Life Sciences (Molecular Biology preferred)
- Minimum of 3-5 years' commercial experience within CRO's
- Proven ability to develop sales strategies that deliver results
- Outstanding communication skills both verbal and written
- Familiarity with CRM systems (Salesforce), Microsoft Office Suite, and other relevant business tools
- Knowledge of various Molecular Biology techniques including PCR technologies
- Familiarity with GLP regulations and ISO 17025 standards is preferred.
