Job Description:
As a Genomics Scientist, you will play a critical role in designing, conducting, and analysing experiments to further our understanding of genomic data. You will be working with cutting-edge technologies to perform high-throughput genomic analyses, generate valuable insights, and contribute to the development of innovative genomic-based solutions. Your expertise will help drive key discoveries and support our mission to revolutionise healthcare and precision medicine.
Key Responsibilities:
- Experimental Design & Execution: Plan and conduct genomic research projects, including whole genome sequencing, gene expression profiling, and other genomic analyses, ensuring scientific rigor and reproducibility.
- Data Analysis & Interpretation: Analyse large-scale genomic data sets, using bioinformatics tools and statistical techniques to derive meaningful insights and trends.
- Method Development: Develop and optimize new methods and technologies in genomic analysis, improving efficiency, accuracy, and scalability.
- Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including bioinformaticians, clinicians, and product developers, to ensure alignment with research goals and contribute to the development of genomic solutions.
- Reporting & Publication: Prepare reports, research papers, and presentations summarising experimental findings, ensuring clear communication of complex data to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Stay Up-to-Date: Continuously monitor the latest advancements in genomic research, technologies, and methodologies to incorporate cutting-edge techniques into ongoing projects.
Qualifications:
- PhD, Master's, or equivalent experience in Genomics, Molecular Biology, Bioinformatics, or a related field.
- Proven experience in genomic research, including expertise in next-generation sequencing (NGS) and other genomic technologies.
- Strong proficiency in bioinformatics tools (e.g., STAR, GATK, Bowtie, etc.) and programming languages such as Python, R, or MATLAB.
- Experience in data analysis of high-throughput genomic datasets, including RNA-seq, DNA-seq, ChIP-seq, and similar applications.
- Solid understanding of molecular biology principles and techniques (e.g., PCR, cloning, RT-PCR).
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a fast-paced, cross-disciplinary environment.
- Strong problem-solving, organisational, and communication skills.
- Experience with cloud-based computing and data storage systems is a plus.
- Familiarity with regulatory and ethical considerations in genomics research is a bonus.
