Job Overview
The Associate Scientist will be part of a team dedicated to developing a new class of diagnostic technologies. This role involves performing analytical procedures, including testing specimens and blood products, to support the advancement and commercialization of innovative diagnostic tests.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Develop and optimize immunoassays for detecting and quantifying protein biomarkers in human blood samples (serum, plasma).
- Investigate biomarker performance characteristics, including sensitivity, specificity, accuracy, and precision.
- Validate and transfer assays for clinical applications.
- Assist in the design and execution of research projects.
- Perform laboratory techniques and procedures necessary for experimental studies.
- Conduct tests utilizing various laboratory equipment and instrumentation.
- Follow all applicable good laboratory practices and standard operating procedures.
- Maintain records in compliance with Good Documentation Practices and applicable policies.
- Collect, analyze, and organize data for presentation in charts, graphs, and statistical tables.
- Manage laboratory supplies and equipment, including ordering and receiving.
- Prepare reagents and perform routine laboratory maintenance.
- Participate in team meetings and contribute to project discussions.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) in life sciences or a related field, with at least two years of experience in a laboratory environment.
- Experience in immunoassay development, analytical chemistry assays, and protein quantification methods.
- Familiarity with various immunoassay platforms (e.g., Luminex, Mesoscale) is preferred.
- Proficiency in standard laboratory techniques, including ELISA and sample preparation.
- Experience in analyzing and interpreting complex data sets, including biomarker concentration data, assay performance data, and clinical data.
- Experience with automated liquid handling systems and other relevant instrumentation is preferred.
- Basic knowledge of protein expression, purification, and antibody production.
- Experience with Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) and Good Documentation Practices (GDP) is preferred.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage and prioritize workload effectively.
