We are currently sourcing for an opportunity for a Vice President, Biotech PR based in San Francisco.
As VP, you will spearhead integrated campaigns, provide senior counsel to clients, and develop compelling narratives that resonate with key stakeholders. You'll collaborate with cross-functional teams, from scientists and founders to media and investors, ensuring the alignment of business goals with impactful communication strategies.
Responsibilities
Client Strategy & Counsel:
- Serve as a trusted advisor for clients, particularly early-stage biotech startups, guiding them through brand positioning, product launches, and investor communications.
- Integrate sustainability into client messaging, showcasing their commitment to environmental responsibility.
Media Relations:
- Build and maintain relationships with journalists, influencers, and media outlets in biotech, healthcare, and sustainability sectors.
- Secure top-tier media coverage to elevate client visibility and credibility.
Messaging & Content Development:
- Craft compelling messaging frameworks, press releases, thought leadership articles, and investor decks.
- Develop narratives that effectively communicate complex scientific concepts to diverse audiences.
Team Leadership:
- Mentor and manage PR teams to deliver high-quality client services and ensure professional growth.
- Foster a collaborative culture that encourages innovation and creativity.
Business Development:
- Identify new business opportunities, build relationships with prospective clients, and contribute to agency growth.
- Collaborate on RFPs, pitches, and proposals to expand the biotech portfolio.
Sustainability Advocacy:
- Help clients articulate their sustainability initiatives, ensuring alignment with ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) standards.
- Partner with stakeholders to integrate eco-friendly practices into communications strategies.
Qualifications
- 9+ years of experience in public relations, with a strong focus on biotech or life sciences; agency experience preferred.
- Proven track record of success with early-stage startups, including product launches, funding announcements, and crisis communications.
- Exceptional understanding of the biotech landscape, including regulatory processes, clinical development, and industry trends.
- Familiarity with sustainability principles and a passion for integrating eco-consciousness into strategic communications.
- Strong media relationships in the biotech, healthcare, or environmental sectors.
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate complex science into accessible messaging.
- Demonstrated ability to lead teams, manage budgets, and build client trust.
- Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, or a related field (advanced degree preferred).
